      • Teaching / Learning English with Ted talks.

From a listener to a speaker

        2023/2024

Autor: Renata Drążek, nauczycielka języka angielskiego

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT / OPIS PROJEKTU:

Learning a foreign language has never been easier than in the Internet era, with the abundance of interactive tools and ideas. So has broadening the knowledge about the world and ourselves, as well as sharing ideas with others.

In this project we would like to combine learning English with building self-awareness and increasing awareness of vital contemporary global issues. The project will be based on TED talks in English, which will serve as material for linguistic analysis: improving listening, reading, speaking and writing skills and expanding the vocabulary range, as well as carrying out various activities related to the topics discussed in the TED talks.

An important part of this project will be student-oriented learning in which students become teachers by preparing and testing their own educational material, mainly in the form of interactive digital exercises, with the use of such applications as learning apps, kahoot, quizzes, vocaroo, padlet and others. Also, they will have an opportunity to improve their writing skills, cooperating in writing argumentative or opinion essays and articles on the topics discussed. Finally, they will work on their speaking skills by preparing their own short TED speeches, which will be either recorded or presented at a school event.

        AIMS / CELE:

        • Development of students self-motivation for learning a foreign language by letting them be the creators of learning content
        • Acquiring the ability to use English efficiently
        • Development of linguistic competences required for national language exam (Matura in Poland)
